Goal of the game
In Totem Zen, your mission is as simple as it is challenging: be the first player to collect 20 points. How do you do that? By building the totem shown on the flipped card faster than the others. Every card you win brings you one step closer to victory. This game revolves around two crucial mechanics: dexterity with chopsticks to collect the right wooden pieces and speed to assemble the totem correctly. It’s a fantastic test of your fine motor skills and your ability to perform under pressure.
How to play
Once the wooden pieces are in the center of the table and each player has their own ‘garden’ and chopsticks, the tension can begin. The youngest player flips a card revealing a colorful totem. From that moment on, it’s every player for themselves! Armed with your chopsticks, you try to pick the wooden pieces shown on the card as quickly as possible from the supply and place them in your garden. But watch out: if a piece falls outside your garden, another player may steal it with their chopsticks! Once you have all the needed pieces, you drop your chopsticks and build the totem exactly as shown using your hands. Are you the first to finish and is your construction correct? Then shout loudly “Totem Zen!” You win the card and the points that come with it. But don’t make mistakes, because an incorrect totem means you have to hand over a valuable card. The tension rises with every card until one player reaches the magical 20 points and crowns themselves the ultimate Totem Zen master!
